Most of the questions we get are about delivery. Pickup gets less attention, but it is the part of the rental where a little preparation saves the most trouble. Here is exactly what happens once you tell us the trailer is full.
Telling us you're done
Pickup is free, and it starts the moment you let us know. Call or text (727) 779-8919, or reply to your booking confirmation. Tell us the trailer is ready and whether anything about the load is unusual — heavy material, a corner that sits higher than the rail, anything you were unsure about loading. Honest information here means we show up with the right expectations instead of a surprise.
We run Monday to Friday 8 to 5 and Saturday 8 to 3, so a trailer called in late Saturday is normally collected Monday. If your rental period runs out before you're finished, that is a different conversation — see the post on extending a rental linked below.
What we check before hooking up
The driver walks the trailer before it moves. Three things matter:
- Is the load level with or below the top rail? Anything heaped above it has to come off before the trailer is legal to tow.
- Is the weight sitting low and spread across the floor, or stacked at the tailgate? A tail-heavy trailer sways, and the driver may need to shift material before it's safe.
- Is there anything prohibited on top — paint cans, propane cylinders, tires, liquids? Those come out and stay with you, because the facility will reject the whole load otherwise.
If everything is in order, the trailer is hooked up, the tarp goes on, and it's gone in a few minutes. If it isn't, the driver will tell you what needs to change. Fixing it on the spot is always faster than a second trip.
Weighing and the scale receipt
Every load is weighed at the facility. One ton of weight is included in your rental. If the load comes in over that, additional weight is billed at $59 per ton, and we provide the PCSW scale receipt so you can see exactly what it weighed. You are never asked to take our word for it.
Most household and yard loads sit comfortably inside the included ton. Roofing, tile, concrete, dirt and wet debris are the ones that push past it, which is why heavy material is limited to 5 yards per load in the first place.
After the trailer leaves
Have a quick look at the spot where the trailer sat. Pull any nails or screws that dropped during loading, especially from a driveway a car will roll over. If the trailer sat on grass for a week, the lawn will look flat for a few days and then recover — that is normal in Florida sun with a bit of water.
If you booked a second load, we can drop an empty trailer on the same visit. Tell us when you call for pickup so the driver comes with one hooked up.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to be home for pickup?
No. As long as the trailer is accessible and the load is legal to move, we collect it without you. If a gate or a parked vehicle might be in the way, leave us a note when you call.
Can I call for pickup early?
Yes. If you fill the trailer in two days, call us in two days. There's no benefit to letting it sit, and an open trailer gains water weight every time it rains.
What if the driver finds something that can't go?
The driver will set it aside and explain why. Hazardous items go to the county household hazardous waste program, not the landfill. Nothing gets loaded that will be turned away at the gate.
How do I see the weight?
Ask for the scale receipt. It shows the trailer weighed in and out, and the difference is your load.
