Do You Need to Be Home for Delivery and Pickup?

Short answer: usually no, and sometimes yes. It depends entirely on how straightforward the placement is.

When you do not need to be there

If the driveway is open, the spot is obvious and there is nothing tricky about access, we can drop and go. Plenty of our customers are at work when the trailer arrives.

What makes that work:

• A clear driveway with the cars moved
• An unambiguous spot — a note, a cone, a chalk mark or a photo texted to us
• No gate, or a gate code shared in advance
• Nothing overhead in the way
• Confirmation from you that we can place it without checking

When it is worth being there

• **Tight placement.** If there is only one workable position and it is close, two minutes of you pointing saves a phone call.
• **Pavers or a surface you care about.** You may want a say in exactly where the jack foot lands.
• **Multiple possible spots** where the wrong choice costs you carrying distance all week.
• **Slope, soft ground or an unusual approach.**
• **A gate that has to be held or unlatched.**
• **First time renting** and you have questions — we are happy to answer them on site.

Pickup

Pickup is generally simpler. We hook up and tow away. You do not usually need to be there provided the trailer is accessible and nothing is parked in front of it.

Two things to have sorted:

• **Nothing blocking the trailer.** A car parked behind it is the number one pickup delay.
• **The load is level and inside the tub.** We cannot haul a trailer loaded above the rails — see below.

The one thing that stops a pickup

An overloaded trailer. If the load is heaped above the sides, or the weight is beyond what can be legally and safely towed, we cannot take it as it sits.

That means either removing material at your cost in time, or a second trip. Neither is a good outcome, and both are avoidable by loading level and keeping heavy material to a shallow layer. Our guide on overloading covers the specifics.

Access details worth sending in advance

• Gate codes or lockbox information
• Which side of the house, if it is not obvious
• Whether a neighbor's car is usually parked in the way
• Any HOA or community gate procedure
• A phone number we can reach on the day

Rental property and remote owners

We deliver regularly to properties where the owner is not local — rental turnovers, estate properties and investment cleanouts. It works fine with clear instructions, and we will call you if anything on site is not as described rather than guessing.
